From Yoo-hoo! to Jaeger
Bombs:
The Evolution of Billy’s Boys
In 1981 the
band now knows as Billy's Boys embarked on a journey. Launched from the
hot bed of nothing but AM radios and borrowed 8-track tapes, Greg, Kyle,
and Lance turned their parents quiet basement into sonic mayhem-every
single night. Heavily influenced by the Beatles, BTO, KISS, and their
dad's accordion music, they developed an eclectic taste in music and
their song lists of that period reflected it.
Aspiring to become a
garage band, they quickly moved to the garage- and then quickly
returned to the basement- because the garage had no heat! Then the big
break came. A Christmas dance at Central Junior High School in Tinley
Park. Many larger venues followed: bowling alleys, VFW Halls, roller
rinks- you get the picture.
Fast forward. In 1996, the boys
caught the Rockabilly "bug". After several name changes, better venues,
and great performances the band found their calling. Rockin' Rhythms
with three part harmonies and lyrics straight from the heart.
But
seriously folks, the band members are all brothers. They decided to
name the band after their father, William (Billy). Greg, the drummer,
is the oldest. Kyle, the lead guitarist, is the middle brother, and
Lance, the bass guitar and slap bass player, is the baby of the family.
Together they make great rock n' roll.
